Exploring Afrofuturism at Childs Park: Books, Breakfast, and Imagining Alternative Futures.

Community events that serve the public are abundant in District 7, and Childs Park knows how to make them special. Saturday October 28, 2023, Councilmember Muhammad was at the park, continuing his support for an exceptional initiative – "Books and Breakfast." This month's gathering not only filled our stomachs but also our minds with inspiration, centering on the intriguing theme of Afrofuturism.

Councilmember Muhammad's visit to the "Books and Breakfast" event at Child's Park on a delightful morning where the community enjoyed breakfast and received free books, nurturing both the body and the soul.

The event's highlight was an engaging discussion on Afrofuturism, led by the Bay Area Dream Defenders with support from local authors, scholars, and artists. The conversation delved into Afrofuturism's roots, its relevance today, and how we can collectively shape alternative futures, leaving all attendees with new insights and a sense of possibility.
