In a proud moment for our city, the Engineering & Capital Improvements Department has clinched the prestigious 2023 State and National Award for Excellence from the Design-Build Institute of America. The recognition is for their exceptional work on the Lift Station 87 Wet Weather Flow Transfer Project, a testament to their dedication to improving our community's infrastructure.
This award-winning project involved the design and construction of a new 3.5 MGD lift station, three miles of 16” force main, and crucial modifications to enhance wastewater service reliability. The Engineering News Resource also acknowledged this endeavor as one of the 2023 Regional Best Projects for the Southeast Region of the Nation, presenting it with the Award of Merit.
Council Member Muhammad has been a consistent advocate for infrastructure improvements, understanding their crucial impact on the community's well-being. He also used the opportunity to engage residents who said they wanted the youth who walk by there everyday to see themselves on the wall and at the ribbon cutting they were happy to see the "mission accomplished" in a major way!
Heartfelt thanks to the residents and stakeholders who actively engaged in the process, contributing ideas that influenced the art displayed at the station. A special appreciation to Jabari Reed, the St. Pete Arts Alliance, and City Staff members for their dedication.
